With any downturn in the economy businesses scramble to find better ways of conducting their enterprise. Some of the more effective ways include careful analysis of each work module required to accomplish the job. A careful annotation of what happens along the way from the manufactured product, transportation to the store, reception, stocking the shelves, marketing the product and sales to customers and allows for a systematic review of the business. Careful application of business management and location intelligence may save a struggling business.

With profit in mind anything that can be done to reduce time handling or price increases the bottom line. While this may appear obvious is a complex task especially with products that require considerable handling between the market and the store will require special storage or are expensive. Just-in-time manufacturing reduced overhead for companies by preventing stocking store parts this concept applies to retail market as well.

It is important to carefully document everything that happens to the product no matter how innocuous it may appear. Frequently flowcharts are drawn which allow for a step-by-step visual representation of the overall process. Having just visual picture allows the manager and employees to document problems or hold ups within the steps. Just drawing a flowchart of the incremental pathway will help in identifying unnecessary steps or steps that could be combined. Focusing on the most difficult areas will allow for the greatest improvement in the system.

As one digs deeper into the process as it becomes clear that each step is in some way dependent on the step before it and so it is helpful to add an element of time into each module. I carefully analyzing the time management of the system one can identify a critical path that is the sequence of the sub-processes which cannot be done in parallel but must be done in series such that any delay increases the overall system timing.

Added years to gain the greatest successes include their employees in the analysis of the work. Those individuals closest to the work that once were doing a hands-on daily activities are a gold mine of ideas on how to do it better. A smart manager learns to harness these ideas and doesn’t cost money go against policy or cause a safety concern should try the ideas even if he’s not sure it will work.

Prior what type of management approach one chooses to employ to gain efficiency one must eliminate either steps resources or manpower but there is increasing attention being given to a new concept. This is a new notion that tries to leverage the data within processes that link the system by location. Including a geographic component in the analysis of product provision is another way to increase efficiency.

This new concept is not as complicated as it may sound. The idea of including a component of location to the analysis of which products to sell place on special or insure to remain in stock makes sense once it has been added to the analysis. By harvesting the data of sales patterns in multiple locations businesses can focus on providing the locally demanded products in the areas with greatest turnover. This provides a tremendous efficiency by reducing warehousing and allows for greater sales.

Tough times drive management to make difficult decisions. These decisions may even include reduction of employees which contrary to employee believes is not something management wants to do. It’s possible to use a combination of business management, postal code map, and location intelligence to increase profit and efficiency businesses are more likely to be able to retain employees and stay successful even in a down market.

In today’s economy is absolutely essential that every business is run as efficiently as possible. It is important for every manager to take advantage of every technique and every idea to squeeze the most from every day and every product. This will require a keen understanding of the market, product and customer. To be successful, every enterprise will have to focus on business management and location intelligence, a new management concept, if they hope to succeed.

The goal of every business is of course to make money, and it had one has to sell a product for a profit. This seemingly simple task, however, becomes exponentially more difficult during a recession like the one we are currently experiencing. Times like these drive businesses to carefully evaluate every step in the process of getting a product of the manufacture to the shelf and out the door with the customer.

Standard management techniques begin with a careful review of all the processes involved and business. Frequently we see management, document such processes and forms of flowcharts for the purpose of identifying each step. In the analysis and process is to identify the time manpower and money required for each step in the flowchart. This allows the manager to quickly identify which processes require the most resources. Identifying the areas that cost the most allows the process manager to focus his energy where he can make the greatest improvement.

Drilling deeper into the process, the manager looks for a customer supplier relationship between each increment in the process as a whole. This gives a manager a better feel for which steps are the most critical in the overall process. Those which require little manpower and assets, such as automated steps, can be glossed over, while those that are manpower intensive can be given a careful review.

At this point, the manager is looking for better ideas, and more efficient ways to do the same job I either faster, cheaper, or with fewer man-hours. Finding success in any of these areas means that the overall process becomes more efficient and increases profit margin. Ideally the successes come from the ideas of those who are actually encompassing each step and tremendous savings, and then recognized just by listening to the employees who very often do have a better way to accomplish the same task.

In addition to this quality management approach, also known as lean thinking, new concepts in management are constantly being developed. One of the newest is known as location intelligence and postal code map. This is the notion that there are location centric pieces of data embedded in most of the management processes in a business. Mining that data and converting it into actionable information holds great promise for industry.

While location intelligence is a result new concept it is not complicated. It is simply the notion that in addition to product and marketing analysis as usual, the component of where the product is being sold is equally important. For example, in a service industry, knowing in which locations the greatest density of product requirement exists would allow a company to most efficiently position its fleet of service personnel, equipment and vehicles.

Using sound management practices from the past and complementing it with new ideas like location intelligence can get a company an edge in a difficult market. Both companies identify those pieces of data which provide location intelligence and included into their standard business management have the greatest opportunity for efficiency. In difficult times, business management location intelligence, combined to provide a powerful business tool for managers at every level.

Whenever you need to find and record data on a map it helps to work with geocoding processes. It is easy to handle these processes with geocoding software. It is an easy to use option and can help you out with many things.

What happens with geocoding software is that geographic data is found through a map. The data that is retrieved on this software can be stored for later use. It works in that a map that can feature a zip or postal code will be loaded up. An address dictionary is then loaded along with the map. The dictionary will work to list addresses in a particular area.

The individual address and geographic data programs will help to get different things found on a program. When you enter a particular address you will be able to get details on its location. The address will be found in the program according to its latitude and longitude. This measurement is used to help with getting better accuracy in mind.

You should know that the accuracy on this program is a great thing to see. Geocoding software can use a digital map to find locations. A digital map is one that uses satellite images to find properties. With this map the properties on the map will get more accurate geographic coordinated listed to it. With greater accuracy you can find things with ease thanks to the use of a digital map.

Individual mapping programs like Microsoft MapPoint can be used with this software option too. A mapping program will work as the data source for the software. With this you will be able to get data quickly. This can save you time with finding places.

Various software choices can even allow you to add variables for different addresses. Variables can be attached to various results that you can get on one of these programs. These can include property values, income values and property ages. Be sure to check with programs you are interested in to see what variables can be used.

You should note that many other benefits can be used with this type of map. You can get data found on various things in a particular geographic area. Business owners can use geocoding software to find info regarding locations of possible customers. You can find specific areas with residential properties too.

You can also get demographics on areas with ease as well. For instance, the variables you add can be represented on a map. You can add income as a variable and have data on income listed on a map. With this you will see what general incomes are for certain geographic areas.

All of these great things are ones to check out for geocoding software. With this it will be easy for you to find places. It is an accurate thing to use as well. Variables can be used on many programs too. With this software you can not only find places but also find demographics in different areas.

A geographic information system (GIS), or geographical information system captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data that is linked to location. GIS includes mapping software and its application with remote sensing, land surveying, aerial photography, mathematics, photogrammetry, geography, and tools that can be implemented with GIS software.

GIS Software
Geographic information can be accessed, transferred, transformed, overlaid, processed and displayed using numerous software applications. Within industry, commercial offerings from companies such as Autodesk, Bentley Systems, ESRI, Intergraph, Manifold System, Mapinfo and Smallworld dominate, offering an entire suite of tools.
Projections, coordinate systems and registration
A property ownership map and a soils map might show data at different scales. Map information in a GIS must be manipulated so that it registers, or fits, with information gathered from other maps. Before the digital data can be analyzed, they may have to undergo other manipulations—projection and coordinate conversions

Spatial analysis with GIS
Given the vast range of spatial analysis techniques that have been developed over the past half century, any summary or review can only cover the subject to a limited depth. This is a rapidly changing field, and GIS packages are increasingly including analytical tools as standard built-in facilities or as optional toolsets, add-ins or ‘analysts’.
